About Us
Location:
The Manchester Community Resource Center (often referred to as the “CRC”) is located in the east wing of the old Ackerson School at 410 City Road in Manchester, Michigan. This building also houses the central offices of Manchester Community Schools. It is easiest to find our office by entering through the east door off Wolverine Street. We are just to the right after entering the building.
History:
The Community Resource Center was formed in the 1980s when a large manufacturer in Manchester closed down, leaving many families in need.
The CRC has continued this volunteer spirit, by addressing community needs which improve the quality of life for those in the Village of Manchester and the surrounding townships. We endeavor to provide creative solutions to community problems by mobilizing people and resources. Retirees deliver hot meals to their homebound neighbors. High school seniors commit their time to helping freshmen make the adjustment to high school. Local medical professionals fight the epidemic of obesity that affects our community, like the rest of the nation. Volunteers work to raise money and donate material for community needs, such as the food pantry, and the Rebuilding Together program.
At the heart of these commitments is our belief in the volunteer spirit to address community needs and improve the quality of life.
Mission:
The mission of the CRC is to identify and meet the human service needs of people in the Manchester area, and provide a forum for local community and other organizations.
Purpose:
Our purpose is:
- To act as a coordinating body to all Manchester area non-profit, charitable, governmental, educational, and public organizations with tax exempt status.
- To provide information and referral services for Manchester area residents
- To assist the unemployed, low-income, elderly, frail, and those suffering temporary financial difficulties
- To raise funds for the above needs
