Free Manchester Chicken Broil Tickets Available Through CRC

June 30, 2025 by Carol Wotring

CRC is excited to announce that we are once again offering complimentary tickets to the Manchester Chicken Broil for individuals and families currently receiving CRC services.

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous community donor who provided 50 tickets to CRC, we are able to extend this opportunity to our community members. CRC is proud to match this donation, bringing the total number of available tickets to 100 for this food voucher program.

The Manchester Chicken Broil is a beloved community tradition that brings our neighbors together for great food and fellowship. We believe it is essential that everyone in our community has the opportunity to participate in this special event.

Eligibility: Current CRC service recipients and their families

How to Apply: CRC volunteers will be contacting every eligible household directly to offer tickets to each member of the household. No action is needed on your part – we will reach out to you.

Wooden Nickels Program: Free Fresh Farmers Market Produce for Manchester Families

June 2, 2025 by Carol Wotring

The Manchester Farmers Market is now open, and once again, the Community Resource Center will be offering our Wooden Nickels Program. Current clients of CRC are eligible to receive up to $40 per month to spend at the Farmers Market. The Nickels may be used to purchase produce, herbs, eggs, honey and produce producing plants.

Wooden Nickels may be picked up by current clients at CRC’s table at the Manchester Farmers Market, from 3-6pm. Not a current client? You will need to complete a CRC application and provide proof of residency in our service area, as well as proof of income prior to receiving Wooden Nickels. Just give us a call and we will be happy to walk you through the process.

This year, CRC volunteers will also deliver farmers market produce to eligible households within Manchester city limits who are unable to get to the market.

This program is made possible by a generous grant from 5 Healthy Towns Foundation and the Manchester Wellness Coalition. Thank you!!

The Driving Force Behind CRC: Our Amazing Volunteers

April 1, 2025 by Carol Wotring

At Community Resource Center, we often say we couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers. But that simple statement doesn’t begin to capture the profound impact these dedicated individuals have on our organization and our community.

With just two paid staff members, our volunteers aren’t just helpful—they’re absolutely essential. They are the hands that stock our shelves, the voices that greet our clients, and the compassionate spirits that make CRC a place of dignity and hope.

Every day, our volunteers transform our mission into reality:

In our food pantry, they create welcoming experiences for clients, helping them shop with dignity and carefully packing orders for those who can’t visit in person.

In our office, they answer the phone, schedule appointments, and enter crucial data into our database, providing the administrative backbone that keeps our services accessible.

At the Manchester Farmers Market, they connect with our neighbors, spreading awareness about our services and distributing wooden nickels to eligible community members to purchase fresh produce.

During tax season, they patiently complete intakes for our VITA scan-n-go service, helping families access vital tax credits and refunds.

On our Board of Directors, they provide guidance, governance, and vision, steering CRC toward a future where everyone in our community has their basic needs met.

Behind every bag of groceries, every appointment scheduled, every connection made is a volunteer who has chosen to give their most precious resource—their time—to help others. They bring diverse skills, boundless energy, and open hearts to everything they do.

To each and every volunteer: Thank you for showing up. Thank you for caring. Thank you for believing in our mission and making it your own. The ripple effects of your generosity extend far beyond what you might see in a single shift—they strengthen the fabric of our entire community.

If you see a CRC volunteer in action, please join us in thanking them. And if you’re interested in becoming part of this extraordinary team, we’d love to welcome you. After all, volunteers are the driving force that powers every aspect of CRC’s mission.
